Tinnitus is the perception of sound when no external sound is present. This sound can be perceived in many variations such as a ringing, hissing, or cricket like noise.

About one person in 100 has tinnitus that interferes with their daily life. Many people learn to ignore the sound on their own, but other people struggle to cope with their tinnitus.
